Cycle Adirondacks Introduces The Weekender at Paul Smith's College

Paul Smiths, NY (03/08/2018) — Cycle Adirondacks added to its 2018 tour menu Thursday with the announcement of The Weekender at The Paul Smith's College, a new family-friendly bicycling event scheduled for June 29-July 1.

The new event will be hosted at the breathtaking lakeside campus of Paul Smith's College and complements Cycle Adirondacks nearly sold out flagship event - The Ultimate Cycling Vacation - an annual weeklong tour set for August 18-24 of this summer. Registration for The Weekender includes fully marked and supported cycling routes for all abilities levels, all meals, route snacks and entertainment.

"Everything we do at CycleADK is because of feedback from our guests," said Doug Haney, who manages marketing and community relations for Cycle Adirondacks. "And while they love the weeklong tour, there's a big group of people who want to ride with us, but either don't have a full week or it's a logistical challenge to bring their kids. The Weekender fixes both."

"As a college based on experience, and in particular experiencing the outdoors, I can think of nothing better than partnering with CycleADK," said Matt Dougherty, recreation coordinator and athletics coach at Paul Smith's College. "Cycling along the world class roads that surround the Paul Smith's campus and the vistas these routes bring will no doubt broaden exposure to parts of the Adirondack Park many visitors have not experienced."

In addition to fully marking and supporting multiple ride distances, The Weekender also features canoeing in the St. Regis Canoe Area, plus hiking and homesteading demonstrations at the Paul Smith's College VIC and education programming led by Cycle Adirondacks Conservation partner, the Adirondack Mountain Club.

"The Adirondack Mountain Club is thrilled about this exciting partnership with Cycle Adirondacks and to share this opportunity with our members," said Wes Lampman, chief operating officer for the Adirondack Mountain Club. "We look forward to introducing CycleADK participants to all of the education, stewardship and advocacy efforts that ADK accomplishes in the Park and throughout New York State."

Event lodging at the beautiful Overlook residence hall on campus can be booked directly through Cycle Adirondacks, or guests can choose to stay at the newly renovated and re-opened Hotel Saranac in nearby Saranac Lake. Camping at the Department of Environmental Conservation's Fish Creek/Rollins Pond and Meacham Lake campgrounds is just a short drive away from campus.
