Taylor West takes home 2015 golf championship

Taylor West of Lakewood, N.Y., and teammates won the 2015 Yankee Small College Conference golf championship Oct. 17 in Portsmouth, N.H.

West, a sophomore majoring in fisheries and wildlife sciences, helped defeat Southern Maine Community College in the tournament final by 14 strokes. The Bobcats' total was 348, its best score to date.

The team competed in four YSCC tournaments this year and won all four.

"This shows the heart and character of all the players who competed," said coach Rodney Bushey. "Aug. 30 was our first practice, and the first tournament was Sept. 2. This team far exceeded what many thought it would do. We're very proud of this team and its accomplishments."
